FOR SEAS STUDIOS

At FOR SEAS Studios, we believe powerful stories come from listening first. Our films and media projects grow from respectful partnerships with scientists, local voices, and ocean stewards, ensuring every narrative sparks meaningful conversations about the challenges and wonders of our marine world.

Have a story you that needs to be told? Reach out! We would love to collaborate with you.

We are a small, independent nonprofit—our work is entirely funded by donations from people who care about the future of our oceans as much as we do. Every contribution helps us amplify unheard voices, bridge science and storytelling, and inspire a global audience to care, learn, and act.

Your donation fuels the stories that protect our seas. Join us.

CLARITY (In Progress)

Set against the contrasting landscapes of Namibia’s sandy shores and Greenland’s icy fjords, communities grapple with the allure and risks of marine diamond mining. Central characters include local fishermen, government officials, and marine scientists who collectively voice the dilemmas faced by these regions. The documentary highlights the central conflict between economic development driven by lucrative diamond mining and the preservation of delicate marine ecosystems upon which local populations depend. The film captures the crucial debate over environmental ethics and economic necessity, challenging viewers to contemplate the true cost of progress.

Kalaallit Nunaata Kangerluisa Uumassuseqarneri // Greenland’s Living Fjords (In Progress)

Greenland’s Living Fjords is an interactive digital experience that explores the diverse meanings glacial fjords hold for different communities. For local residents, fjords are home—places of hunting, recreation, and cultural identity. For glaciologists, they mark the dynamic meeting point of ice and ocean. Oceanographers view them as vital ecosystems where coastal and offshore waters interact with glacial melt. For visitors, fjords inspire awe and connection to Greenland’s natural beauty.

This project, created for the Greenland Ice Sheet Ocean Science Network (GRISO), weaves together these perspectives through an Esri ArcGIS StoryMap, blending scientific research with local knowledge, video interviews, maps, and data visualization. Greenland’s Living Fjords is a collaborative effort aimed at fostering education, transparency, and community participation in the research process.

Women of the Deep

With no sunlight, dramatic temperatures, and intense pressure, the deep sea is considered one of the most extreme environments on earth. Co-created with fellow Scripps Institution of Oceanography Masters of Marine Biodiversity and Conservation students, Women of the Deep explores the deep sea alongside a renowned group of female scientists conducting cutting-edge research and the leveraging the power of female leadership at the bottom of the ocean.
